residents of Hollister to Silicon Valley. Numerous improvements
have been made to reduce an unusually high accident rate and
there are plans to upgrade Hwy 25 to a divided 4-lane highway
but construction could be years away. |

Road, this road is known as the Monterey Highway. Prior to the
construction of the South Valley Freeway, U.S. 101 ran along Monterey

from Silicon Valley over Pacheco Pass to Interstate 5 and the Central

This exit used to be Scheller Road before the Coyote Creek Golf
Club was built. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. This
is also the access road to a landfull located in the hills east
of the freeway. |

This exit was built because new commercial and residential developments
were planned for the Coyote Valley. Currently, there is very little
developed along Baily Avenue except a lot of farm land. |

Highway 85/West Valley Freeway provides an alternate route through
the valley avoiding downtown San Jose. This 24-mile freeway serves
the communities of San Jose, Los Gatos, Campbell, Saratoga, Cupertino,
Sunnyvale and Mountain View before rejoining U.S. 101 in Mountain
View. One of the conditions put on this highway was the banning
of all trucks over 4.5 tons.
Carpool-to-carpool ramps were built to
eliminate the need for carpoolers to cross 4 lanes to exit onto
Hwy 85. Outside of commute hours, this ramp is open to all traffic. |

Bernal Road connects the residential areas of extreme south San
Jose to the freeway. A number of business parks are located along
Silicon Valley Blvd.

Blossom Hill Road is a major east-west route that connects south
San Jose to Los Gatos. Silver Creek Valley Road is a main road
within the Evergreen district. |

Alum Rock Avenue/Highway 130 will take you to the top of Mount

Clara Street heads right into downtown San Jose. |

and residences have located along McKee. Julian Street runs west
of U.S. 101 through residential area east of downtown. |
